The Symbiotic Tank

Three days before the return burn, the inside wall of the tank moves. Mio works out, somewhere around page twenty, that her body is not the thing doing the sampling. It is the sample.

01

What happens

An experimental module in orbit, and a transparent tank at the centre of it. No other human being appears in the set. Mio writes, the tank answers, and the book is the record of that exchange.

At first the tentacles read as texture, a set of ridges along the inner wall. The parts she touches move. Then they hold her arms, open her legs, and take the option of moving away off the table. Nobody hurts her, and nothing in the tank is angry. The pleasure is the part she cannot file: it arrives without a cause she can name, and the log starts recording it as a physiological event rather than a thing that happened to her.

Midway the recording changes shape. Milk production gets a column of its own, because she insists on measuring it. The belly starts to change a few pages later — a rounding that the log describes in millimetres and never explains. By the last pages the numbers are still there and the sentences around them are not holding their shape.

No monster girl, no face in the tank, no villain. A colony, a woman, and a form to fill in.

What's inside

  • 81 pages, full color, one module, one tank, no other cast.
  • Tentacles: restraint, milking, an implied spawn count that never becomes a birth scene.
  • Lactation as a measured quantity — the log keeps a column for it.
  • Impregnation implied, never confirmed: she is not pregnant on page one, and the book never says the word out loud — the belly does the talking.
  • Stomach deformation drawn as a silhouette change across pages, not as an injury.
  • Two dialogue variants: the log before it goes wrong, and the log after.
  • Mosaic censorship per platform rules; AI-generated, hand-finished.
03

Who it's for

Readers looking for tentacles that are not a monster — no personality, no growling, just a system with an interest in her. People who want lactation handled as a body function with numbers attached rather than as a fetish prop. Anyone who has wanted a pregnancy arc that is honest about the belly and honest about the fact that nobody in the story can confirm anything.

Not for readers who need a monster with a face, and not for readers who want the birth. The set stops at the implication, on purpose.

04

Why the log is the whole trick

A report has columns. Time, temperature, biological response, volume collected. Put a woman's voice into a form like that and something useful happens: she starts treating herself as equipment, because that is what the form is for.

For forty pages it works. She writes breast feeding volumes in millilitres, notes the interval between contractions of the tank wall, logs how much fluid is on the floor of the tank without using a word for shame. The numbers are the last place she can be calm.

Then the numbers stop being enough. A line of opinion gets into a column that should be a measurement; a few pages later the opinion is longer than the measurement. The formatting degrades with her. That is the arc of the set, and it is legible from across the room — you can see how far gone she is by how ragged the page margins are.

The tank never speaks. It does not need to. Whatever is inside it is patient in the way that weather is patient, and the only voice in the book is the one taking notes.
